Because one of James Scott Accountants key qualities is Teamwork, we like to focus on one of our team so that our clients and prospective clients can get to know us more! Today we focus on…..Olivia Nield.

Olivia Nield – James Scott Accountants

How long have you been part of the team?

I have been with James Scott Accountants since November 2018. Before joining James Scott, I was a Hotel Receptionist for three and half years. Although I enjoyed meeting lots of people and welcoming back returning customers to the hotel, I knew I was ready for a new challenge and change of career.

What is your role at James Scott Accountants?

My title is Practice Manager, but although you may think that means I would be hidden away somewhere in a little office, I am actually the first person you are likely to meet if you visit our offices, as I actually manage the reception desk as well!

On a day to day basis I make sure the practice is running well, I add new client details to our database, liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients and members of our team and I am responsible for the day to day marketing activities, such as social media posts, organising events, liaising with our outside suppliers etc.

What are your interests outside work?

I am mad about my horse Max – although I call him Moose! I have owned him for 18 years although he is actually thirty years old this year, but he doesn’t act like he is thirty! He is a Welsh Cob and although he doesn’t need riding every day anymore, I love looking after him and it gives me a great opportunity to be outside which is also something I love.

I also have two Jack Russell dogs – Bella and Stella so they need plenty of exercise too!

When I’m not with my horse or walking the dogs, we are in the process of completely renovating the house we are living in…..and I do mean completely renovating it! So, I am living on a building site at present. We have done a lot already, but it still needs a new Kitchen and Bathroom, which are the next big projects. I find I am pretty good with a sledge hammer (destruction) but not so good and putting everything back together again (construction)! But I knew what I was letting myself in for, as this is the seventh house we have renovated – I feel exhausted just talking about it!

If you were an animal, what animal would you be?

Well it’s a bit of a cheat, but I would be a Unicorn. Why – because I am obsessed by Unicorns and I think of them as pretty horses! I have unicorns on the parcel shelf of my car, I have them in my house and I even have a unicorn tattoo!

…..and if you could travel anywhere I the World, where would you go?

I’d love to visit Bora Bora, partly because it sounds a really nice place to visit but also and more importantly, because my Nan said she would have liked to have gone there and she never got there.

Finally, is there one thing no one knows about you?

Whoa that’s tricky! Oh yes, I obsessively watch the Forest Gump film – as in every day! I like the fact that Forest Gump remains just the same genuine individual even when he becomes famous…and of course everyone like Tom Hanks too!
