Hi, I’m Matthew. My journey in accountancy started back in 1982, and in 1990, I joined James Scott, where I became a partner in 1997. One of my proudest professional achievements is becoming a Fellow of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, something I worked hard for over the years.

Throughout my career, I’ve have worked with an incredible variety of clients – from small, independent traders to businesses with multi-million-pound turnovers. It’s given me a wealth of experience to help advise on all kinds of financial and business challenges.

Lately, I’ve been focused on modernising our firm, bringing in new tech and systems to keep us forward-thinking and client focused. It’s been a rewarding challenge, and I’m driven by the goal of always improving the experience for those we work with.

I’ve also had the opportunity to speak on panels discussing the future of the profession, which has been a great way to engage with where the industry is headed.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about giving back. I volunteer as a Trustee Treasurer for a charity that supports people in my hometown, and I’m involved with local community and sports organisations too.

When I’m not working or volunteering, you’ll probably find me outdoors. I love skiing, fly fishing, and exploring the local moorland. I also enjoy walking with a “purpose” – usually towards one of the amazing independent businesses popping up around the area.
